By increasing the population and pollution, accessing to drinking water is rapidly decreasing. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on the distillation of water. Solar energy is still one of the promising technologies available to clean water due to low cost, energy and skill requirements. However, the efficiency of current technology is low, so it is necessary to advance the existing designs in this field.
In this project, it has been tried to simulate and analyze a solar disalinator, using Ansys Fluent software.
The geometry required for this analysis is designed in Ansys Design Modeler software. Meshing is also generated in Ansys Meshing software. The cells type used in this analysis is structural and the total number of cells produced for this geometry is 500,000 cells.
In this analysis, laminar model has been used to check the fluid flow. Species transport model has been used to analyze the phases. It is considered to be a force for gravity to simulate floatation.
All sides of the domain are considered as Wall.
Due to the type of heat transfer in this analysis, Pressure-Based solver is used to solve the equations and SIMPLEC algorithm is used to discretize the coupled velocity and pressure equations. The first-order Upwind and pressure equations have been discretized in the form of PRESTO!
The results are presented as temperature and velocity contours.
